Pitch-n-Putt

On a fine autumn afternoon on 18 April, the AJS held a very successful pitch and putt golf day at the Canberra International Golf Centre. The event attracted 24 participants.

The prizewinners were as follows:

The AJS would like to thank Choku Bai Jo, the farmers outlet, in North Lyneham, for its very kind donation towards the prizes for the event.

Softball Day

On the 2nd of May the AJS held the annual softball competition. The competing teams were the AJS, UC Japan Club, ANU Japan Club and the Embassy of Japan. Each team put together a strong team and was supported by an equally strong support crowd.

The weather was ideal for the event though there was some danger of excessive sliding from the dew covered ANU grounds.

The eventual winners of the round robin competition were ANU who took the trophy from last years winners, the Embassy of Japan.

Overall the event, which combined sport, a BBQ lunch and team-work was a great success.

O-Tsukimi

On the evening of Saturday 29th May, our society gathered at Anne and Michael Hodgkins’ home for a viewing of the full-moon and a hearty Japanese winter meal. 24 members, including young families, enjoyed Anne and Michael’s hospitality and the meal of Japanese curry rice and ‘oden’. The moon did not disappoint as it lit up a crisp night sky and reflected off the approaching winter ice-clouds. The occasion was made all the more memorable with the young children audibly registering their delight and excitement.
